’The Kite Runner’ is a page-turner which evolves a heartrending story of friendship, loyalty, betrayal and love.
It is a story of two Afghan boys, Amir and Hassan, and how an incident in their childhood turns Hassan a gnawing pain throughout Amir’s life.
It is sure, when you come out of the book, Hassan will remain in you as a gem and his words, “Amir Agha, a thousand times more for you,” will keep echoing in your ears.
Hosseini begins the story in Afghanistan and takes the readers to America where Amir and his father begin a new life as immigrants.  Years after his father’s demise, Amir receives a call from his father’s friend in Pakistan and the days ahead untangle the biggest secret in his life.

The kite Runner imbibes the quintessence of Afghanistan into the readers and makes them realise that the county is much beyond its recent riots, massacres and terrorism. Hosseini unveils the beauty and the rich heritage of his homeland and simultaneously tells how his heart breaks to see the present graveyard-look of Kabul.
No doubt, Hosseini is a talented writer and his heart-touching narrative makes an emotional conflict within the readers’ minds. Hassan’s and later Sohrab’s silence leave such an impact on them.
‘The Kite Runner’ may disturb you, shatter you and even make you cry your heart out.
Yet, you will love the way it haunts you.
